Ask for a story
Invite an older relative to tell you about a place, a family tradition or a memory they want younger people to know. Listen first. If you would like to record it, ask permission and agree on who may hear or see the recording.
Make language part of the routine
Choose a time when your household can speak a little Igbo together. It might be a greeting in the morning, a conversation while preparing a meal, or the names of everyday objects. Encourage attempts and make corrections kindly.
Share with care
A photograph, proverb or family recipe can start a meaningful conversation. Ask before publishing another person’s image or story. Explain the context, credit the person who shared it, and leave room for different traditions within the wider Igbo community.
Pass something you learned on to someone else.
